The Council of the Township of Rideau Lakes consists of a Mayor and eight council members, two each from the wards of Bastard & South Burgess, South Elmsley, South Crosby, and North Crosby-Newboro. Municipal Councils serve a 4-year term as per the Municipal Elections Act.
Council meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Municipal Services Committee meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 10:00 a.m.
All meetings are livestreamed. Once a meeting begins, the Livestream Link is available in the meeting calendar where the Agenda is posted. The Meeting recording and Minutes (once approved) will also be in this location.
Any communication received by the Township through the Clerk’s office or the information email account and directed to Council, will be forwarded to all members of Council, and appropriate staff, at the same time. If received via email, a reply email will be provided stating that the email was forwarded on for Council’s information and filed accordingly. Current or past communication items may be pulled from the files and placed on an upcoming agenda either through the consent agenda or as an attachment to a staff report as required. By-Law 2023-72- Appoint an Integrity Commissioner
An Integrity Commissioner is an independent and impartial person hired by the Municipality as a confidential advisor to the Mayor and Council regarding situations pertaining to the Council Code of Conduct and the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.
The Integrity Commissioner investigates complaints received from any person regarding a breach of the Council Code of Conduct.
If a person believes a member has disregarded the Council Code of Conduct or Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, a Code of Conduct Complaint Form/Affidavit or a Municipal Conflict of Interest Complaint Form/affidavit should be forwarded to the Township's Integrity Commissioner (information below) with a copy to the Township Clerk at with the $100 filing fee. The complaint forms must fully outline the detail(s) of the alleged contravention(s).
