Rideau Lakes Township Council has developed a transition plan for the role of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This follows the resignation of the current CAO, Mike Dwyer, in July with a departure date set for September 29.
Mr. Dwyer departs the role after 13 years with the Township. Under his tenure the Township undertook a significant program of community and village renewal, long-term financial planning and economic development.
Rideau Lakes has appointed Yvonne Robert as Interim CAO. Yvonne joins the Township with decades of administrative experience, having recently retired from neighbouring Elizabethtown-Kitley. Yvonne will work with Council and the Management Team part-time while a full-time recruitment process takes place.
To that end, the Township has engaged Waterhouse Executive Search to undertake a comprehensive and competitive search process for a permanent CAO. This process will begin immediately, and it is expected that a new CAO will be appointed and in place by early 2024.
Mayor Hoogenboom remarked, “Mike will be greatly missed by Council and staff. His local knowledge, passion for the community and personable approach has been a tremendous asset for the organization. He was pivotal in the Township’s success delivering on its strategic objectives.”
He continued, “Council is pleased to be able to have a seasoned professional like Yvonne commit to assisting for the next few months. With transition comes opportunity, and Council is also looking forward to commencing the executive search for the next CAO. We believe Rideau Lakes offers a compelling professional opportunity and high quality of life outside work and will attract top municipal talent.”
